How Twilio Click-to-Call works

· 5 min read

Twilio Click-to-Call means you click a phone number in the browser and the call is placed through Twilio, not through the device’s cellular radio.

What happens

The Twilio Chrome Extension can treat supported numbers on a page as clickable. You still use your Twilio number as caller ID. Twilio bills the Voice usage.

What “supported” means

Pages and number formats the extension recognises. Not every string of digits on the internet will start a call. If a page uses images or odd markup, click-to-call may not see the number — use the keypad instead.

Privacy

The call still runs on your Twilio project. Do not paste Auth Tokens into random sites. Connect credentials only inside the extension.
