How to use Twilio as a Chrome Softphone

A Twilio Softphone in Chrome is a dialer UI that places Twilio Voice calls from the browser instead of a desk phone.

Steps

  1. Install the Twilio Chrome Extension from the Chrome Web Store.
  2. Paste Account SID and Auth Token from Twilio Console.
  3. Choose the Twilio number that should be your caller ID.
  4. Place a test call from the keypad. Grant microphone access when Chrome asks.

Inbound calls

Inbound ringing depends on how that Twilio number is configured (webhooks / TwiML). If inbound is not set up in Twilio, the extension cannot invent it.
