Google Chrome on your Mac is the app you open. The extension installs into that Chrome profile. Apple silicon and Intel Macs both run it, because the phone is Chrome plus your Twilio account.
If you use more than one Chrome profile, add the extension to the profile you call from. Safari does not run this Chrome extension, so place and answer calls in Chrome.
Set up the Twilio softphone on a Mac
1. Open Chrome
Use Google Chrome on macOS. Add the extension from the Chrome Web Store.
2. Microphone
System Settings → Privacy & Security → Microphone. Turn Google Chrome on.
3. Twilio
Paste Account SID and Auth Token, then choose your Twilio number.
4. Test call
Connect a headset and place a short outbound call.

Answer inbound calls on a Mac
A caller reaches your Twilio number. When Voice settings point at the client identity the extension registers, Chrome rings on the Mac and you answer from the softphone. Outbound caller ID is the Twilio number you selected.
